China is a vital consideration in any global sourcing strategy.
Akin to the emergence of the Internet itself, China is an inevitable force to be reckoned with for non-Chinese businesses and destinations. It is a historic rebirth and economic evolution on a scale that has implications not only for providers but also national economies that benefit from manufacturing and services outsourcing revenues.
Our view is that China is better-situated than many commentators describe with the positioning and momentum to move forward faster than some have predicted. We see a “when not if” philosophy in evidence – as the opportunity for China to grow its sourcing activity grows more apparent.
We see a supportive government and an energy toward business growth that bodes well for the sector. We consider the issue of English language literacy to be a near-term drawback, but not a medium-to-longer term deal-breaker, as some would suggest.
We see a particular disposition toward the growth of the ITO and F&A sectors – that lends itself to creating the potential of a price-war in the medium term that can only be good for consumers, but less so perhaps for providers. But near-term, there is a particularly strong opportunity for businesses looking to scale up efficiently in regards to data handling and data processing, reporting functions.
Notwithstanding even a significant downturn in the US economic cycle, we anticipate significant growth in this field and the benefits this will generate for the Chinese sourcing sector.
